Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Site Engineer (Mechanical / Electrical). This is a client-facing role, working closely with our design team, ensuring the MEP installations are being undertaken in accordance with our designs and specifications on our Philippines sites. This is also combined with office-based work in our Manila office, reviewing designs prior to site execution.

This role will be working closely with contractors, clients, and project management teams to ensure the design requirements are delivered or any deviations are approved and documented. This is a wide-ranging role and involves undertaking surveys, factory visits, commissioning attendances or audits. This role will report to the Ops – SG Office or Project Lead.

We’re looking for an experienced professional with project management experience and who is results-oriented to work as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure delivery of project objectives and providing technical support.

Responsibilities

Responsible for supporting medium to large sized project teams under the direction of the Project Director. Undertake a client facing role in the development of the delivery team services for Mechanical or Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc.

  • Ensure specification and design documentation requirements are incorporated into the contractor’s installation drawings and work on site.
  • Define reference sample installations and ensure that these are followed throughout the project installation by the contractor and by our inspectors.
  • Define activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing conform to functional specifications and customer requirements.
  • Day to day review and reporting on project progress and quality.
  • Represent B&W at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractor’s teams.
  • Responsible for site inspection team performance.
  • Review and comment on Contractor’s shop drawings.
  • Review and comment on Contractor’s material submittals.
  • Review and comment on Contractor’s installation quality.
  • Respond to Contractor’s technical queries.
  • Review and comment on Contractor method statements and quality assurance documentation.
  • Witness of testing and commissioning of electrical/mechanical installations.
  • Attend site meetings as required.
  • Communicate and consult with office engineering team on any issues or queries arising on site.
  • Provide feedback reports to design office on accuracy of design and IFC documentation.
  • Provide the Employer with a weekly site observation report.
  • Provide weekly progress report to Project Director.
  • Examine all critical work before being covered up.
  • Review testing and commissioning results until they have been completed  satisfactorily.
  • Review as built drawings and O&M Manuals until they have been  completed by the Contractor to a level complying with the Construction Contract.
  • Compile project close-out reports summarising from regular reports taken during the project delivery.
  • Other duties as may be determined from time to time by the Project Director or Post-Contract Team manager.
Role Requirements

Professional and technical expertise:

  • HND or electrical/mechanical engineering degree or have sufficient equivalent experience.
  • Membership or in-progress application for membership of appropriate professional body.
  • Working towards Chartered / Professional Eng status.
  • Strong familiarity with Electrical or Mechanical services designs, drawings, specifications and standard installation details for multiple building types and good appreciation of associated multi-discipline designs (Arch, C&S, Elec, Mech, Fire etc).
  • Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and legislation.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications word, excel etc.
  • Ability to use IT based calculation and spreadsheet software.
  • Solid communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Solid report-writing skills.
  • Solid understanding of local Philippines, key International Standards and standards quoted within the B&W specification.
  • Flexibility to work in accordance with varying site procedures and protocols and alongside B&W Quality Procedures as defined by the Post Contract Team manager.
  • Detailed knowledge and understanding of Local Authority requirements.
  • Ability to conduct thorough review and assessments of accuracy of design drawings and contractor’s working drawings.
  • Ability to manage inspection teams and engineers including electrical discipline, where required and in accordance with direction from the Project Director.
  • Sound knowledge and extensive experience of site practices and procedures through submittal review periods, site inspection and installation, testing and commissioning, as-built reviews, O&M manuals and Defects and Liability Periods.
  • Manage and prioritise own workload as well as site team’s and coordinate responses to RFI’s, contractor submissions and attend meetings where necessary but minimising impact on duties.
  • Ability to work to deadlines and to pre-defined responsibilities and tasks that may be assigned from the outset of your post.
  • Represent B&W for multi-discipline site meetings, electrical as well as mechanical. Obtain briefing from electrical colleagues as appropriate.
  • Implementing quality solutions that are practical and maintainable and in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and good, safe practice.
