About the role

Black & White Engineering is a multi-award-winning engineering consultancy, with nearly 600 employees in teams based in our UK, European, Middle East and Asia Pacific offices. We have been providing a wide range of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) engineering consultancy services since 2007.

Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Senior Structural Engineer, ideally with extensive years of working experience in design and analysis of building structures from concept through to construction in various sectors particularly the technology/data centre industry and to work as part of a team on technically challenging projects.

Responsibilities
  • Develops the structural design for new build and refurbishment of buildings projects
  • Liaises with other disciplines to produce a coordinated design
  • Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others’ work
  • Responsible for setting and meeting agreed deadlines
  • Allocates tasks and coordinates activities
  • Represents the company both internally and externally
  • Authors documents such as letters and reports (for internal or external use)
  • Follows Company standards to ensure that all designs are compliant
  • May in addition be responsible for:
    • The performance and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback
Requirements
  • Minimum of 7 years technical experience specialising in design and analysis of building structures
  • Experience of working in an engineering team, preferably within the technology/data centre industry
  • Competent in using software such as Autodesk Revit, Tekla and Robot Structural Analysis
  • Good understanding of Eurocodes
  • To manage your own workload and be a good team player
  • Ability to work in an evolving market where new technologies can be embraced
  • Good communication and presentation skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or have sufficient equivalent experience
