About the role

Black & White Engineering is a multi-award-winning engineering consultancy, with nearly 600 employees in teams based in our UK, European, Middle East and Asia Pacific offices. We have been providing a wide range of Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) engineering consultancy services since 2007 and are now expanding our Civil and Structural Engineering division.

Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

The purpose of this role is to drive and manage the development of BIM within the business, provide technical expertise and implementation of BIM standards and protocols.

Responsibilities
  • Lead, guide, and support every BIM team in their allocated projects.
  • Establish and enforce BIM standards, protocols, and workflows.
  • Monitor all the BIM project’s submission dates and manage the resources to meet the deadlines.
  • Conduct quality control checks to ensure the accuracy and compliance of models. Ensure that BIM deliverables are completed within the designated timeframe and adhere to project specifications and standards.
  • Training and supporting team members in BIM processes and tools.
  • Working closely with Design engineers and Project BIM leads, who are responsible for producing project information and requirements to the models.
  • Ensuring staff have access to the tools and ACC web server.
  • Leading the meetings to identify projects task and resolve major issues in the model.
  • Supporting the career development, coaching, and mentoring of a team of staff.
  • Ability to develop scripts in Dynamo for design and productivity requirements.
  • Works mainly without supervision; refers upwards as necessary
  • Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own and others’ work
  • Responsible for monitoring hours spent to assist meeting financial targets for the business
  • Responsible for setting and meeting agreed deadlines
  • Allocates tasks and coordinates activities
  • Represents the group/office/ discipline/profession internally
  • May in addition be responsible for one or more of the following:
    • Drives development of BIM within the business
    • Responsible for predicting and planning future resources and contributing to setting up BIM aspects of new projects
    • Responsible for the design/ delivery of internal BIM events, activities, processes, and /or projects which have a major impact on the management of the business
    • Responsible for the performance and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback
Requirements
  • Minimum of 8 years technical experience specializing in Building Information Modelling (BIM). Ability in implementing BIM and CAD protocols and standards
  • Extensive experience in BIM from LOD 200 up to LOD 500.
  • Knowledge with RIBA stages (plan of work)
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
  • Exceptional working in ACC/BIM360
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Exceptional managerial skills
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s/College degree holder of any related course
