About the role

Black & White Engineering (B&W) is a leading MEP design consultancy. Launched in the UAE in 2007, we became an independent company in 2014 and are now a true global consultancy with offices in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

Due to our continued growth into the data centre sector, we are looking to recruit a Project Manager (PMP), ideally with data centre experience, to lead a multi-disciplinary team on technically-challenging projects.

This role will be responsible for managing projects to deliver an excellent service to clients and assisting on the ongoing development and growth of the business as a whole, whilst providing sound technical, design, and contract management support. This role will report to the Singapore-based office lead.

We’re looking for an experienced leader to take overall accountability for the performance of the data centre function as part of the wider management team.

Responsibilities
  • Contributes to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth, and also maintaining and developing existing client relationships
  • Manages a multi-disciplinary design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery of project objectives, including providing technical support
  • Compiles specifications, drawings, and relevant contract documents, maintaining the required technical quality of work and ensuring that designs comply with the relevant codes, standards, regulations, and procedures
  • Acts as the lead engineer and liaises with the client and external design team as necessary for successful delivery of projects
  • Identifies scope and scheduling changes in accordance with the change control process, maintaining planning and cost control on all scope
  • Promotes learning from successes and problems within the group and across the business
  • Develops and implements plans for the longer-term benefit of the office
  • Assists with the recruitment, appraisal, performance, work, development, morale, and motivation of the team
  • Provides robust directional and honest feedback to staff
  • Organises training needs for teams
  • Oversees the financial performance including ensuring healthy profit and cash flow
  • Procures work and negotiates significant contracts and agreements with customers and suppliers
Qualifications
  • A relevant degree in Electrical Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient suitable experience
  • CEng (or equivalent) with an appropriate professional body
  • Recognised as an expert within the industry in the region
  • Experience in leading successful and dynamic teams
  • Desirable experience in managing large-scale data centre projects
  • Experience in dealing with complex escalated problems on behalf of multi-disciplinary teams
  • Behaviours which demonstrate integrity, straight-talking, respectful, and fair
  • Experience in promoting and enforcing a culture of respect and inclusion of all in the business
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written
  • Computer literacy which includes Autodesk Suite, ProDesign, lighting software, and Microsoft Office
