Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to recruit a Principal Structural Engineer, ideally with extensive years of working experience in design and analysis of building structures from concept through to construction in various sectors particularly the technology/data centre industry and to work as part of a team on technically challenging projects.

role responsibilities
  • Manage a design team to ensure successful preparation and delivery on project objectives and work collaboratively with other disciplines
  • Lead on engineering quality – develop designs and drawings to the required technical quality of work, ensuring that they comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures
  • Responsible for monitoring budgets and controlling expenditure to meet financial targets for own areas
  • Represents the company both internally and externally
  • Day to day decision making on project progress and direct liaison with and provides advice to client
  • May in addition be responsible for one or more of the following:
    • Predicting and planning future resources, which may include setting up new projects and project plans
    • The performance and development of others, providing guidance, training, motivational and directional feedback
  • Responsible for setting and meeting agreed deadlines
  • Authors documents such as letters and reports (for internal or external use)
  • Allocates tasks and coordinates activities
job requirements
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or have sufficient equivalent experience
  • At least 15 years working experience in different stages of building design from concept through to construction
  • A collaborative team player, with good communication skills, who is happy to share their knowledge with those around them and always be open to learning and developing themselves professionally and personally
  • Relevant experience in structural analysis and design, using the latest tools and software
  • Good understanding of Eurocodes
  • Ability to work in an evolving market where new technologies can be embraced
  • Significant experience in the design of buildings in various sectors particularly the technology/data centre industry
  • Sound knowledge of key Health and Safety issues and current legislation
  • Consideration of sustainability in the development of designs
