About the role
The Principal Engineer assists the developing and communicating the vision, values, and direction of the business to achieve sustainability, growth, efficiency and profit.
The Principal Engineer is responsible for development, design, and coordination of engineering project services for Electrical installations, systems, equipment, facilities etc. The Principal Engineer ensures project Electrical works are successfully delivered, adhering to B&W standard/ quality and timelines whilst managing resources efficiently. The Principal Engineer applies a high level of initiative and judgment to prioritise electrical task , workload of projects and acts with professionalism, courtesy, and tact with colleagues, promotes the culture within the team.
The Principal Engineer role is to assist the Associate Director in an ongoing commitment to the philosophy of the business and its implementation. The Principal Engineer role also plays a key part in providing leadership support to the Associate Director in the following areas:
- Front office (FO) liaison
- Technical leadership (improve your team)
- Own the “One Team Culture”
- Provide monthly performance reviews for each Electrical team Member and give them feedback on areas requiring improvement
- Treat every team member the same

Requirements
The Principal Engineer position suits a highly experienced and qualified Electrical engineering design professional. He/she will possess the technical knowledge, design experience, people management and project delivery background necessary to assist team lead in the successful delivery of a broad range of building types.
They will have a keen interest in new developments and technical advancements within the Electrical engineering design field. Having specific Data Centre design experience will be an advantage.
- Chartered Engineer status(desirable)
- Significant experience of design and specification for Electrical systems for range of applications.
- Experience of having international projects (desirable).
- Excellent English communication skills – both verbal and written.
- High level of technical understanding of electrical services with the ability to communicate this knowledge clearly – verbally and in writing.
- Ability to prioritise own workload.
- Ability to work to deadlines.
- Ability to identify scope and scheduling changes in accordance with the change control process.
- Technical knowledge in primary discipline and a thorough understanding of HVAC, PHE & Fire protection systems.
- Technical knowledge about the type of capital equipment and their applications.
- Proficient at using IT based calculation and current discipline based software, like; ETAP, Amtech, Dialux, Navis, Microsoft office, BIM 360 etc.
- Good knowledge of international codes & standards.
- Presentation skills.
- To support team lead in Leadership and mentoring skills.
- Willingness to develop further skills and knowledge through ongoing personal development and training.
