The purpose of this role is to provide support to senior members of our engineering teams as a support design engineer within a multi-disciplined team.  The aim of this role is to provide the opportunity for further development and learning while the post holder is able to provide sound technical, design support on mechanical or electrical building services engineering disciplines, to ensure project requirements and clients’ specifications are fully met.

The ideal candidate will have graduated in the last 2 years and has the ability to learn and grow within a full time role as part of a multi-discipline engineering team.

Requirements
  • Results orientated with strong problem solving, technical realisation and coordination skills.
  • Has a relevant degree in electrical or mechanical building services engineering, or equivalent qualification /sufficient suitable experience.
  • Student member of an appropriate professional body, such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, IET, MinstMC, MIHEEM.
  • Basic technical knowledge in primary discipline and an understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
  • Appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering, cooling systems and computer modelling in the design of buildings.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both verbal and written. Computer literate including AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
Responsibilities
  • Part of a multi-disciplinary data center design team to support successful preparation and delivery on project objectives, including providing technical support.
  • Responsibility for ensuring that all work is checked by a senior member of the engineering team.
  • Identify own training needs with support from a mentor. Takes action to develop competence through creation of a Personal Development Plan.
  • Compile specifications, drawings and relevant Contract documents and maintain the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
  • Carry out engineering calculations using Company standard engineering software.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical developments, national and international standards and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
  • Provide electrical or mechanical building engineering services design to buildings and infrastructure under the supervision of the senior team, working within the parameters given.
  • Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.
