About the role

To provide support to Principal and Senior Engineers and act as a support design engineer as part of a multi-disciplined team.  Development role with the aim of being able to provide sound technical, design support on mechanical or electrical building services engineering disciplines, to ensure project requirements and clients’ specifications are fully met.

Responsibilities
  • Act as part of a multi-disciplinary design team to support successful preparation and delivery on project objectives, including providing technical support.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that all work is checked by a Senior Engineer or Principal Engineer.
  • Identify own training needs with support from a mentor and take action to develop own competence through creation of a Personal Development Plan.
  • Keep up to date with technical developments, national and international standards
  • Compile specifications, drawings and relevant Contract documents and maintain the required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
  • Provide electrical or mechanical building engineering services design to buildings and infrastructure under the supervision of the senior team. Work within the parameters given.
  • Carry out engineering calculations using Company standard engineering software.
  • Ensure, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.
Requirements
  • Results orientated individual with strong problem solving, technical realisation and coordination skills.
  • Student member of an appropriate professional body, such as ASHRAE, CIBSE, IET, MinstMC, MIHEEM.
  • Must be a registered Mechanical or Electrical Engineer as certified by the Board of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or equivalent.
  • Basic technical knowledge in primary discipline and an understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
  • Appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modeling in the design of buildings.
  • Good interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both verbal and written.
  • Computer literate include AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
Qualifications
  • Has a relevant degree in electrical or mechanical building services engineering, or equivalent qualification, or sufficient suitable experience.
