About the role

Black & White Engineering (B&W) is a leading MEP design consultancy. Launched in the UAE in 2007, we became an independent company in 2014 and are now a true global consultancy with offices in Europe, Middle East, Asia, and Australia.

Our engineering expertise reaches across all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions to ensure our projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers the installation and maintenance practicalities on site.

Due to our continued growth, we are looking to recruit an Architect, ideally with five (5) years technical experience in architectural modelling and documentation and ability in applying BIM protocols and standards on projects.

In this role you will be responsible in providing technical design support to the designers for new build, refurbishment and alterations of construction projects including the space around the buildings as well as preparation of plans, specification and drawings to ensure the effective and timely delivery of best value services that comply with all statutory building and design requirements

Roles & Responsibilities (Key Activities)
  • Monitors scope of works during project delivery and ensures work tasks are within our scope
  • Follows project documentation programme
  • Reports changes, extensions, or delays to the documentation programme
  • Specifies activities to ensure that manufacturing, construction, installation, and operational testing confirm to functional specifications and customer requirements
  • Represents Company at technical meetings with customers, professional teams and contractors teams
  • Preparation of specification modifications (word or excel)
  • Ensure engineering calculations and drawings meet required robust industry and legal standards
  • Responsible for validation of Intermediate & Graduate Engineer input into designs
  • Works on defined tasks under limited supervision with some autonomy
  • Responsible for checking the quality and accuracy of own work
  • Responsible for producing routine letters and/or reports and other documents from standard templates. Responsible for the effective organisation of information and documentation, e.g. filing, QA etc.
  • Responsible for meeting agreed deadline
Role Requirements (Professional & Technical Expertise)
  • Has a relevant degree in Mechanical Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient experience
  • Basic working knowledge of CAD functionality
  • Basic understanding of key health and safety issues and legislation
  • Knowledge in MS Office such as Word, Excel
  • Ability to use IT-based calculation and spreadsheet software
  • Basic understanding of BS standards
  • Ability to prioritise own workload
  • Ability to work on deadlines
