About the role

Black & White Engineering is a multi-award-winning engineering consultancy, with over 900 employees in teams based in our UK, European, Middle East and Asia Pacific offices. We have been providing a wide range of engineering consultancy services since 2007.

Reporting to Technical Director/Area Director, this role will lead a multi-disciplined team on technically challenging projects. They will manage projects to deliver an excellent service to clients and assist in the ongoing development and growth of the business as a whole, whilst providing sound technical, design and contract management support.

Role Responsibilities
  • Manage a team of engineers with responsibility for all day to day people leadership activities
  • Provides technical support and leadership to project teams in the successful delivery of Client projects
  • Lead projects liaising with internal and external stakeholders to ensure Client requirements are understood and met, on time and in budget
  • Carries out cost and profit diagnosis on projects including feasibility studies and preparation of fee bids
  • Responsible for managing team turnover targets (Team Plan) making adjustments where necessary to meet obligations
  • Participate as an active member of the appropriate office leadership team (LMM)
  • Other reasonable duties as appropriate

  • Awareness of H&S policies and procedures and impact on yourself and team
  • Ensure all staff members complete mandatory compliance training when required
  • Report any accidents, incidents, near misses appropriately
Role Accountabilities
  • Responsible for leading and developing a team of engineers
  • Responsible for managing team performance against team plan (focus on resource and profitability)
  • Responsible for project decision making
Education and Training Requirement (minimum)
  • BSc/BEng or HND/HNC in appropriate engineering discipline
  • MCIBSE/MIET desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience of complex MEP design for a range of building types
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD, NES, Cymap)
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications Word, Excel etc
  • High level of technical skill with the ability to communicate knowledge clearly
  • Prior working knowledge of applicable legal/regulatory requirements, codes and standards
