About the role

Black & White Engineering is a multi-award-winning engineering consultancy, with over 900 employees in teams based in our UK, European, Middle East and Asia Pacific offices. We have been providing a wide range of engineering consultancy services since 2007.

Reporting to the AD or TD, this role will manage client relationships and assist in the ongoing development and growth of the business. Providing expert technical, design and contract management support on mechanical or electrical engineering disciplines, to ensure project requirements and clients’ specifications are fully met.

Role Responsibilities
  • Compile specifications, drawings and relevant contract documents as per client/project specification.
  • Maintain required technical quality of work, ensuring that designs comply with the relevant Codes, Standards, Regulations and Procedures.
  • Provide electrical or mechanical engineering design services for buildings and infrastructure.
  • Liaise with Clients and external design team as necessary for successful delivery of projects.
  • Produce budgets for clients based on their specifications and monitor spend to ensure that, as far as possible, projects are delivered within their budget and schedule.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.
  • Mentor other technical colleagues and support the overall delivery of projects.

  • Contribute to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth and also maintaining and developing existing client relationships.
  • Other reasonable duties as appropriate.
Additional Responsibilities (QHSE)

  • Awareness of H&S policies and procedures and impact on yourself and team
  • Ensure all staff members complete mandatory compliance training when required
  • Report any accidents, incidents, near misses appropriately
Role Accountabilities
  • Monitor and report on resource use against team plans.
  • Manage and develop team members where there is direct line leadership
  • Work with other Principal Engineers to ensure quality and timely operation delivery for clients.
Education and Training Requirement (minimum)
  • BSc/BEng or HND/HNC in appropriate engineering discipline
  • MCIBSE/MIET desirable
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards)
Experience Requirements
  • Prior experience of complex MEP design for a range of building types
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications Word, Excel etc
  • Experience and knowledge of relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD, NES, Cymap)
  • High level of technical skill with the ability to communicate knowledge clearly
  • Prior working knowledge of applicable legal/regulatory requirements, codes and standards
