As a Senior or Principal Power Systems Engineer, you will report to the Front Office Power Systems team. You will be responsible for providing robust technical and design support across medium and high voltage (MV and HV) engineering disciplines, ensuring that all project requirements and client specifications are met. You are expected to demonstrate initiative and take ownership of key responsibilities, while also mentoring and sharing your expertise with graduate and junior power systems engineers.

Role Responsibilities
  • Provide power systems engineering services design associated with buildings and infrastructure.
  • Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the change control process, maintain planning and cost control on all scopes.
  • Represents the team, group, profession, discipline at external meetings. .
  • Visit overseas sites and factories to undertake inspections, factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests etc.
  • Preparation of MV and HV equipment specifications and data sheets using proforma documents along with controls and overall project specifications.
  • Selection of protection schemes for MV and HV networks, prepare protection strategy documents and report.
  • Undertake power systems network analysis and written reports including:
    • Protection studies
    • Load flows
    • Fault studies
    • Arc flash studies
    • Earthing studies
    • Harmonic studies
  • Carry out engineering calculations to ensure designs meet required robust industry and legal standards.
Role Requirements
  • Holds a degree in Electrical or Electronics and Communication Engineering; a postgraduate qualification in Power Systems Engineering is an advantage
  • Extensive experience (7–15 years) in delivering power systems engineering services for infrastructure and building projects at a senior level.
  • Proven ability to deliver small to large-scale projects across various sectors, from concept design to completion, while executing power engineering activities within budget and schedule constraints and ensuring technical integrity is maintained.
  • Results orientated individual with strong problem solving, technical realisation and coordination skills.
  • Able to demonstrate extensive experience of a wide range of technical areas.
  • Appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modelling in the design of buildings.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills both verbal and written. You will have proven ability in negotiating positive outcomes, resource planning, motivation and management.
  • Team-builder, able to support the team through training and mentoring.
  • Computer literate including ETAP (or equivalent power systems analysis software), AutoCAD and Microsoft Office.
  • Technical knowledge of LV and MV generation using a variety of prime movers (diesel, HVO, gas etc).
  • A thorough understanding of power systems and network design.
  • Technical knowledge of resilient control engineering relating to power systems.
  • Proficient at using IT based calculation and spreadsheet software.
  • Good understanding of BS and IEC standards, regulations and codes as well as applicable local codes or overseas equivalent.
  • Knowledge of grid and networks operators’ specifications and practices.
